Macular Degeneration Discoid

In medicine, the term “Macular degeneration” usually refers to the degeneration of the fibers that make up the epithelium of the posterior and anterior hyaloid membranes. In Latin, this condition is called "degeneration macularis disciformis" or "ring-shaped macular degeneration."

This pathology usually occurs in old and senile age and manifests itself along with other vascular changes in the posterior part of the eye (arteriosclerosis). During these changes, the retinal fibers begin to gradually break down, leading to the development of a disc-shaped macula and visual impairment.
