Determination of respiration rate Respiration rate - see Respiratory coefficient - one of the parameters characterizing the condition of the lungs. DC reflects the respiratory capacity of the lung tissue, namely the amount of oxygen absorbed by the lung tissues when inhaled from the blood. This parameter is directly related to the degree of oxygen saturation of the blood. In clinical practice, DC is used to assess the state of the respiratory system of patients, both healthy people and those with pathological conditions of the lungs (chronic obstructive diseases, respiratory failure). DC also helps to assess the patient’s respiratory capabilities. That is why it is often mentioned in diagnosis formulations in different groups of patients. A pronounced respiratory coefficient in the analysis of a healthy person indicates the high efficiency of healthy lung tissue, that is, it indicates high air quality. This may be due to the morphology, thickness of the bronchial mucosa and blood supply to the organ.
