Dr. Theiss Nazolin is a medication used to reduce swelling of the nasopharyngeal mucosa. It belongs to the group of drugs that stimulate alpha and beta adrenergic receptors. The international name of the active substance contained in Dr. Theiss Nazoline is xylometazoline. This drug is manufactured by Dr. Theiss Naturwaren GmbH in Germany.

Dr. Theiss Nazoline is available as a 0.1% nasal spray. Its active substance is xylometazoline, which constricts blood vessels and reduces swelling of the nasopharyngeal mucosa. The drug is indicated for the treatment of acute allergic rhinitis, hay fever, sinusitis and otitis media, as well as for preparing the patient for diagnostic procedures in the nasal passages.

Despite the effectiveness of Dr. Theiss Nazolin, there are a number of contraindications to its use. It is not recommended to use the drug in case of hypersensitivity to xylometazoline, arterial hypertension, tachycardia, severe atherosclerosis, glaucoma, atrophic rhinitis, hyperthyroidism, pregnancy and lactation.

Dr. Theiss Nazoline may cause some side effects such as mucosal irritation, burning, tingling, sneezing, dryness and hypersecretion. Rare but more serious side effects include swelling of the nasal mucosa, palpitations, irregular heart rhythm, increased blood pressure, headache, vomiting, sleep disturbance and visual disturbances. With prolonged use of high doses, depression may develop.

Dr. Theiss Nazoline is incompatible with MAO inhibitors and tricyclic antidepressants. In case of overdose, symptoms may intensify and treatment should be symptomatic. For children under 3 years of age, it is recommended to use an aerosol, and nasal drops with a concentration of the active substance of 1 mg/ml for children under 2 years of age should only be prescribed by a doctor. Dr. Theiss Nazoline should not be used for a long time, for example, with chronic rhinitis. For colds and the formation of crusts in the nose, it is preferable to use the drug in the form of a gel.
