Duracef

Duracef: an effective drug to combat infectious diseases

Duracef, whose international name is Cefadroxil, is a pharmaceutical drug from the group of first-generation cephalosporins. It is produced by Bristol-Myers Squibb in Italy and has been successfully used to treat various infectious diseases.

Duracef is available in several dosage forms, including capsules (250 mg and 500 mg), powder for oral suspension (250 mg/5 ml and 125 mg/5 ml), and dispersible tablets (1 g). The active substance of the drug is Cefadroxil.

The drug is effective for infectious diseases of the skin and soft tissues, genitourinary organs, tonsillitis and pharyngitis. However, it should be noted that Duracef has some contraindications. It is not recommended in case of hypersensitivity to other beta-lactam antibiotics, as well as during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

When using Duracef, side effects may occur, such as dyspeptic disorders, nausea, vomiting, renal dysfunction, hypovitaminosis, dysbacteriosis, candidiasis, pseudomembranous colitis. Allergic reactions are also possible, including skin rashes, angioedema and anaphylactic shock.

It is important to consider possible interactions of Duracef with other drugs. It can enhance the effect of bactericidal antibacterial drugs and weaken the effect of bacteriostatic drugs. Duracef also increases the nephrotoxicity of polymyxins and aminoglycosides.

There is no reliable data on a possible overdose of Duracef. However, if you exceed the recommended dose, you should seek medical attention.

When using Duracef, some features should be taken into account. Drinking alcohol during treatment is not recommended. The drug should be used with caution in case of impaired renal function and in case of a history of colitis. Dissolved powder for oral suspension can be stored for 7 days at room temperature and 14 days in the refrigerator.

Duracef is an effective medicine that can cope with infectious diseases of the skin and soft tissues, genitourinary organs, tonsillitis and pharyngitis. However, as always, it is important to ask your doctor or pharmacist for more details about using Duracef, especially if you have any medical conditions or are taking other medications.
