Ectoglia

**What are ectoglial cells? An ectoglial cell** is a function of a relatively specialized glial cell that differs from other cell types in the CNS or peripheral nervous system in that they do not normally form characteristic glial sheets. These cells have an eccentrically located nucleus, colored intense yellow. A distinctive feature of their nuclei is the presence of specific condensed nucleolar structures - radicular filaments and a pair of such filaments extended from the zone of one polar hemisphere or eccentric loop. As the names suggest, most nuclei are located in the peripheral layer of the cytoplasm.
