Emypyema (from the Greek epimyoma - a tumor from the lining of the lung, and pleura - pleura), an accumulation of pus in the pleural cavity. (Syn.; encysted peritonitis).

However, it is difficult to distinguish this form clinically and radiologically from an unrestricted inflammatory process. Therefore, it is usually regarded as a focus of enclosed exudate in the area of ​​limited pneumosclerosis that remains after the elimination of the primary malignant focus that fills the surrounding tissues. This change should be considered as post-infectious pneumosclerosis, which was especially highlighted in 1927 by P. Hennil in the process of studying changes in lung tissue as a result of surgical removal of a lung tumor. Subsequent diagnosis of this condition is difficult. To avoid mistakes, V.A. Gavva proposed excision of the area of ​​the lung with a tumor, followed by morphological verification of the diagnosis.

Emphysema is the presence of a large amount of air in the lung tissue, which leads to increased airiness and a sharp weakening of the respiratory potential of the lungs. Against the background of bronchitis or other infections, this disease develops relatively quickly and after a certain time can cause the death of the patient.

As the disease progresses, there may be a gradual reduction in lung volume, which entails oxygen starvation of the patient, and this condition becomes critical for the patient. And then surgical intervention and, possibly, amputation of the lung begins to speak about itself. Without a quick and competent operation, this could be the final sentence.

Basically, the diagnosis of the disease is carried out by auscultation of the chest, this means listening, during which a specialist examines breathing in the lung area. However, it is important to understand that the symptoms are characteristic not only of the disease, but also of other lung diseases, so rely only on it to establish
