Endometritis Atrophic

Atrophic endometritis is a chronic inflammation of the uterine mucosa, characterized by its atrophy.

Causes

The main reason for the development of atrophic endometritis is a violation of the blood supply to the uterine mucosa. This may be due to age-related changes, previous inflammatory diseases of the uterus, or surgeries on the uterus. Long-term use of hormonal drugs may also be the cause.

Symptoms

  1. Menstrual irregularities - irregular, scanty or heavy menstruation
  2. Pain in the lower abdomen
  3. Infertility

Diagnostics

The diagnosis is made based on gynecological examination, ultrasound of the uterus and the results of hysteroscopy with separate diagnostic curettage.

Treatment

Treatment is selected individually depending on the causes of the disease. Hormonal therapy, physiotherapeutic procedures, and vitamin therapy can be used. If conservative treatment is ineffective, a hysterectomy (removal of the uterus) is performed.

Forecast

With timely diagnosis and adequate treatment, the prognosis is favorable. Full recovery is possible at a young age. In women over 40 years of age, surgical treatment is often required.

Prevention

For prevention, timely and adequate treatment of pelvic inflammatory diseases, smoking cessation, and rational use of hormonal medications are recommended.
