Endothelium

Endothelial cells play a role in maintaining the vascular wall in the vascular connective body. Several processes, such as cell adhesion and cell-cell communication, are essential for the development and function of endothelial cells, as well as their interactions with other cell types. They contain many receptors that influence cell metabolism, function and structure of the vascular endothelium. Endothelial dysfunction, such as that caused by inflammation or sepsis, can lead to a significant disease called endothelial dysfunction (EDF).
