Epicris

An epicrisis is the final part of the medical history, summarizing the data on the medical history, including the course of the disease, the treatment performed and changes in the patient’s condition.

The epicrisis often contains conclusions from the studies conducted, describes the patient’s quality of life, the probable prognosis and, based on this, a decision is made on further treatment or even discharge the patient from the hospital.

The goals of the epicrisis are:

- Give a complete description of the patient's condition. - Allow the doctor to avoid mistakes in his future practice.

The main function of the epicrisis is to show the patient and his relatives the state of his health, indicate all the diagnoses and features of the course of the disease. Some patients may not have enough information to know all the details of their medical condition at the time of discharge. In this regard, many diseases are described in simple and understandable terms for people; the causes of diseases and signs of diseases are highlighted separately.
