Every Child is an Artist

Every child is an artist

Exercises using visual media appear in many chapters of the book, since visual arts have a powerful impact on the development of children's minds. Children's creativity conveys a child's worldview like nothing else. The choice of material and subject of the image reveals the child’s inner world. His thoughts are in his drawings.

As soon as this language becomes clear to us, we gain closer contact with the child. Adults are sometimes perplexed when they see sheets of paper with scribbles or abstract landscapes. Not understanding the drawing, they ask: “What is this?” And then the artist experiences disappointment. To avoid this, just say: “How beautiful! Tell me about it.”

This attitude towards his creativity gives the child the opportunity to explain what he sees himself and contributes to the development of descriptive language. However, if an adult asks too many questions, it is possible that the child will then begin to diligently copy certain objects and thereby lose the ability to be creative and enjoy art as such.

This can lead him to disappointment and suppression of artistic talent. Find a way to praise your child and appreciate his efforts. Discuss the technique of drawing - color, straight and curved lines and its composition.
