In our article we will look at the important factor "II", which plays an important role in blood clotting and regulates this process. The term itself comes from the Latin “prothrombin” - and means the first stage of coagulation, since factor II is one of the first steps and is involved in the primary formation of a blood clot.
Factor II or prothrombin Blood is determined by prothrombin time (PTT). The intensity of the PTT depends on the ability of fibrin to stabilize the blood loops. After several hours, prothrombinase is released and continues to work. The prothrombin index is considered satisfactory if 80% of interactions achieve a bleeding time of at least five seconds. Normal PTT is a result between 0.2 and 0.5 seconds. An increase in PTT indicates a high risk of possible bleeding.
