Transhyoid pharyngotomy

**Pharyngotomy** (from the Latin faringa - pharynx and tomia - cut), or **commissurotomy**, is a surgical intervention consisting of cutting adhesions, ligaments or cutting the pharyngeal commissure. Within a few days after the operation, the periosteum is fused with the transversely oriented connective tissue of the commissure fissure, through which the anterior part of the vocal cords and vocal vessels pass. The adhesive properties of this connective tissue prevent the periosteum from reuniting. Highlight:
