First aid for collarbone injury

First aid for clavicle injury: application of supporting and fixing bandages
with a clavicle fracture
When conducting a secondary examination, you assume that the victim has a serious injury to the collarbone. You decide to apply a supporting and fixing bandage.
Position the hand and bone bandage accordingly
• Place the forearm of the injured side across your chest with your fingers pointing toward the opposite shoulder.
• Apply the straightened bandage over the forearm and hand.
• The bandage should cover the elbow and shoulder.
• Supporting your forearm, wrap the lower end of the bandage under your hand, forearm and elbow.
Wrap the lower end of the bandage around your back and tighten the ends
• Carefully adjust the height of the support bandage.
• Tie the ends of the bandage on the opposite side.
• Connect the end between the forearm and the bandage.
• Make a spacer between the body and the arm in the anatomical cavities using soft but strong material.
Apply a fixative bandage
• Stretch the bandage from the elbow of the injured side around the body, securing it well.
• Tie the ends of the bandage on the opposite side under your unaffected arm.
