Formation

Formation (French formication, from Latin formica - ant) ​​- the feeling of goosebumps crawling on the skin. This is a sensory disorder in which a person feels as if there are insects running around their body when in fact this is not the case.

Formation can occur in various diseases and conditions:

  1. Damage to the peripheral nervous system (polyneuropathy)

  2. Circulatory disorders

  3. Nerve compression

  4. Poisoning by toxins or drugs

  5. Alcohol withdrawal

  6. Anxiety disorders

The crawling sensation is usually not dangerous, but can be uncomfortable. To get rid of formication, it is necessary to identify and eliminate the cause that caused this disorder. In some cases, symptomatic treatment is prescribed to reduce discomfort.
