Theniids

Taeniidae - family of cestodes of the order Cyclophyllidea.

Taenidids are parasites of vertebrates. Their ribbon body consists of a scolex, a neck and numerous segments (proglottids). The scolex carries circles of hooks and/or suction cups, with the help of which the parasite attaches to the intestinal wall of the host. The segments contain the reproductive system and fall off from the main body, exiting along with feces into the external environment.

The most famous representatives of taeniaids are bovine tapeworm, pork tapeworm, dog tapeworm, and broad tapeworm. They parasitize the intestines of humans and animals, causing taeniasis. The larvae of taeniids are finns, which develop in the muscles and internal organs of intermediate hosts.

Thus, taeniaids are dangerous parasites that require control and prevention of taeniasis. Their life cycle is associated with farm animals, so veterinary and sanitary measures are important.
