Essence.
It has leaves similar to celery, with large leaves and branches. Its trunk is a cubit or more long; it is smooth, soft, thick, its top is as thick as a finger. It is crimson, knotty, with flowers like a daffodil or larger, but there is a purple tint to their whiteness. The lower end of the rhizome is highly branched. Its rhizome smells good and its potency is in many respects similar to that of sumbul.
