Graefe Cystotom

Graefe cystotome is a surgical procedure named after the German ophthalmologist Albrecht von Graefe. This surgery is performed to remove stones from the bladder.

During the operation, a suprapubic incision is made. The bladder is opened and the stones are removed using special instruments. After all stones are removed, the bladder is sutured.

Graefe cystotomy is most often performed for large or multiple bladder stones that cannot be removed using other, less invasive methods. This operation can effectively relieve the patient of bladder stones and prevent complications associated with their presence.
