Viperaceae

Viperidae (lat. Viperidae) is a family of poisonous snakes, one of three (along with asps and copperheads) modern genera of the order Scaly. Most viper species are poisonous.

Vipers are found in a wide variety of habitats, from deserts to tropical forests. They are good at climbing trees, running on the ground and swimming.

There are about 250 species in the viper family, which are divided into 34 genera. Some of them:

  1. Echis - sand viper;
  2. Vipera - common viper;
  3. Bitis - vipers of the viper genus;
  4. Daboia - Indian cobra;
  5. Trimeresurus - snakes of the genus Taiwanese viper;
  6. Oxyuranus - Indonesian vipers.

All vipers have a barbed tail and poisonous teeth on the upper jaw. Viper venom can be dangerous to humans if bitten by a snake. However, most people survive a viper bite with timely medical attention.
