Dosage forms: tablets 100 mg
Composition: Active substance: Mebendazole.
Indications for use: Enterobiasis, ascariasis, hookworm disease, strongyloidiasis, trichocephalosis, multiple nematodes, echinococcosis, taeniasis, alveococcosis, capillariasis, gnathostomiasis, trichinosis, mixed helminthiasis.
Contraindications: Hypersensitivity, ulcerative colitis, Crohn's disease, liver dysfunction, transient increase in the activity of aminotransferases, alkaline phosphatase and blood urea, decreased hemoglobin levels, pregnancy, breastfeeding, children under 2 years of age.
Side effects: Dizziness, headache, gastrointestinal dysfunction, neutropenia, hair loss (at high doses), allergic reactions: fever, skin rash, itching.
Interaction: Carbamazepine and other inducers of metabolism decrease, and cimetidine increases concentration in tissues. Mebendazole reduces the need for insulin in patients with diabetes mellitus. Co-administration of mebendazole with lipophilic substances should be avoided.
Overdose: Symptoms: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, pain in the gastrointestinal tract. With long-term use in high doses: reversible liver dysfunction, hepatitis, neutropenia. Treatment: gastric lavage, enemas, activated charcoal; there is no specific antidote.
Special instructions: Periodic examination of smears of the anal area and stool after completion of treatment is mandatory. The peripheral blood picture, liver and kidney function should be monitored.
