Sinusitis Traumatic

Sinusitis is an acute or chronic inflammation of the lining of the maxillary sinus that can be caused by a variety of causes, including infection, allergic reaction, or injury. Traumatic sinusitis belongs to the category of acute conditions associated with trauma. It occurs after an injury to the nasal septum or nasal cavity, when pressure and irritation occur in the sinus area, causing swelling and inflammation.

Traumatic sinusitis can occur after a blow to the nose or after a fall on the face. In both cases, the sinuses become compressed and begin to fill with fluid, leading to inflammation and swelling. Causal factors can be both direct trauma and indirect effects, such as a fall on bent legs.

Clinical symptoms vary, but usually include pain in the nose and paranasal area, difficulty breathing through the nose or through the mouth, difficulty moving the facial muscles and mucous discharge from the nose. The pain may also spread to the frontal area and eyes.

To diagnose traumatic sinusitis, radiography and computed tomography of the paranasal sinuses are performed. It is important to seek medical help promptly to avoid complications. Treatment involves relieving swelling and restoring nasal breathing, as well as using topical and systemic antibiotics to fight the infection. In some cases, surgical correction may be required.

Sinusitis is a serious condition that requires immediate treatment. It can lead to complications such as sinusitis, sinusitis, empyema (purulent inflammation of the sinus) and osteomyelitis (infection of the bone marrow).

Basic preventive measures include caution when working with tools and equipment with sharp edges, careful handling of vehicles, gentle exercise and training of muscles and joints, regular care of the respiratory system (wet cleaning, use of humidifiers, regular walks and ventilation of the home) and proper balanced diet. It is worth noting that treatment should only be carried out under the supervision of a qualified specialist who can determine the diagnosis and prescribe appropriate treatment.

Sinusitis of traumatic origin occurs when there is trauma to the maxillofacial area or the base of the skull. It usually occurs as a result of a direct blow to the nose and paranasal sinuses, less commonly as a result of biting off large pieces of hard food or hitting the head against hard objects. Much less often it can be caused by indirect damage
