Galantamine Hydrobromide

Galantamine hydrobromide belongs to the group of cholinesterase inhibitors.

International names: Galantamine.
Synonyms: Nivalin, Reminyl.

The active ingredient is galantamine.

Indications for use:

  1. Myasthenia gravis, progressive muscular dystrophy, motor and sensory disorders with neuritis, polyneuritis, radiculitis and radiculoneuritis.
  2. Residual effects after cerebrovascular accident and brain damage of an infectious-inflammatory, toxic and traumatic nature (meningitis, meningoencephalitis, myelitis).
  3. Psychogenic and spinal impotence, acute poliomyelitis (recovery period), cerebral palsy (spastic forms), intestinal and bladder atony.
  4. Angle-closure glaucoma, poisoning with anticholinergic drugs and morphine.
  5. Functional X-ray diagnostics for diseases of the stomach and intestines.

Contraindications:

  1. Hypersensitivity to the components of the drug.
  2. Epilepsy, hyperkinesis, bronchial asthma, angina pectoris, bradycardia, heart failure, arterial hypertension.
  3. Mechanical intestinal obstruction, mechanical obstruction of the urinary tract.

Side effects:

  1. Salivation, sweating, nausea, vomiting, bradycardia, dizziness, arrhythmia, bronchospasm, spasm of the intestinal and bladder muscles, convulsions.

Drug interactions:

  1. It is an antagonist of morphine and its analogs, restores neuromuscular conduction.
  2. Enhances the effect of depolarizing muscle relaxants.
  3. Anticholinergics eliminate side effects.

Overdose:

  1. Increased side effects.
  2. Treatment: dose reduction, use of anticholinergics.

Special instructions:

  1. It is recommended to combine it with physiotherapy.
