Reflected hallucinations are reflex hallucinatory images that arise as a result of the interaction of a visual image and motor impulses coming from it to the brain. In some cases they may be bright and distinct, while in others they may appear ghostly and blurry. Reflex hallucinations often occur in people with deficits in the functions of the visual cortex, suffering, for example, from amblyopia (squint), associated with a defect in the central part of the posterior optic pathway or optic nerve.
