Gastritis Polypous

Gastritis polyposis is a chronic inflammatory disease of the gastric mucosa, characterized by the formation of multiple polyps.

Causes

The main reason for the development of polypous gastritis is prolonged exposure to the gastric mucosa of various irritating factors, such as:

  1. Helicobacter pylori infection
  2. Long-term use of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs
  3. Smoking and alcohol abuse
  4. Hereditary predisposition

Symptoms

  1. Pain and heaviness in the epigastric region after eating
  2. Nausea, heartburn
  3. Decreased appetite, rapid satiety when eating
  4. Vomiting with bile or mucus
  5. Diarrhea or constipation

Diagnostics

The diagnosis of polypous gastritis is established based on the following data:

  1. Endoscopy with biopsy and histological examination
  2. Fecal occult blood test
  3. Complete blood count (anemia)
  4. Research on H. pylori

Treatment

Treatment of polypous gastritis includes:

  1. H. pylori eradication therapy (if infection is detected)
  2. Quitting smoking, alcohol, and taking NSAIDs
  3. Prescription of drugs that reduce the secretion of hydrochloric acid
  4. Taking gastroprotectors
  5. Physiotherapy
  6. Spa treatment

If conservative therapy is ineffective, surgical treatment may be required - resection of areas of the stomach with polypous changes.

The prognosis for timely treatment of polypous gastritis is favorable. However, the disease has a tendency to progress and degenerate polyps into cancer. Therefore, patients with polypous gastritis require regular endoscopic monitoring.
