Gastroenterostomy According to Roux

Roux-en-Y gastroenterostomy is a surgical procedure performed to treat intestinal obstructions. This may be associated with various diseases such as bowel cancer, inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and other pathologies.

Before the operation, the patient must undergo a full examination, including blood and urine tests, ECG, fluorography, etc. Then the gastroenterologist prescribes surgery.

During the operation, the surgeon makes a small incision in the patient's abdomen and then inserts a special instrument called a Roux fistula. A fistula is a thin tube that passes through the intestines and connects it to the outside environment.
