**Genether** (English: Genether) is the name of a method of gametation in various species of corals, which involves the fusion of a multicellular individual and a unicellular gamete within a multicellular organism using the individual's own life force. This process resembles intussusception in the embryonic organs of animals, but differs significantly from it. It also differs from the oogamous method of fertilization in fish.
The fusion of cellular forms leads to the development of polyspermic eggs and eggs covered with a common membrane. In this case, fertilization occurs in egg-like objects, although no complex nuclei develop within the ovaries.
