Toxic-chemical hepatitis is an inflammation of the liver caused by exposure to toxic substances of chemical origin.
Reasons for development:
-
Taking medications in high doses (antibiotics, anticonvulsants, antituberculosis and others).
-
Poisoning with poisonous mushrooms and plants.
-
Inhalation of toxic vapors (chloroform, carbon tetrachloride).
-
Alcohol consumption, especially surrogates.
-
Industrial poisons (mercury, arsenic, phosphorus).
Symptoms:
-
Temperature increase
-
Weakness, fatigue
-
Nausea, vomiting
-
Pain in the right hypochondrium
-
Jaundice
-
Dark urine, discolored stool
Treatment is aimed at eliminating toxic substances from the body, introducing antidotes, and restoring liver function. In severe cases, a liver transplant may be required.
The prognosis depends on the timeliness of treatment. With adequate therapy, complete recovery is possible.
