Heptral

Heptral: an effective remedy for the treatment of liver diseases

Heptral is a drug used to treat liver lesions of various etiologies. It belongs to the group of hepatoprotective agents and contains the active substance ademetionine butane disulfonate. The drug is produced by several companies, including Knoll AG (Italy), Knoll AG (Germany) and Abbott S.p.A. (Italy).

Heptral is available in two dosage forms: enteric-coated tablets 400 mg, and lyophilized powder for the preparation of an injection solution 400 mg. This allows you to choose the most convenient and effective method of using the drug, depending on the nature of the disease and the patient’s condition.

Heptral is indicated for the treatment of various liver diseases, including intrahepatic cholestasis, cirrhotic and pre-cirrhotic conditions, toxic lesions, including alcoholic, viral and drug-induced, as well as encephalopathies, including those associated with liver failure. The drug can also be used to treat depressive and withdrawal symptoms.

However, Heptral also has a number of contraindications. For example, it is not recommended for use in the first and second trimesters of pregnancy, during breastfeeding, as well as in children in whom the safety and effectiveness of the drug have not been determined.

When using Heptral, some side effects may occur, including allergic reactions, heartburn, pain or discomfort in the epigastric region, and dyspeptic symptoms.

The interaction of Heptral with other drugs is not known, and an overdose of the drug has not been described in the medical literature.

With long-term therapy with Heptral, it is necessary to monitor the level of urea and creatinine in the blood serum. In cirrhotic and precirrhotic conditions, blood nitrogen levels should be carefully monitored. The solution should be prepared immediately before use, and if the color of the lyophilisate or tablet changes, you should refrain from using it.

Heptral is an effective remedy for the treatment of liver diseases of various etiologies. However, before using the drug, it is important to consult a doctor and not exceed the recommended dose.
