Hermann Hermann - German anatomist and teacher. Studied human anatomy at the University of Bern. In 1879 he became professor of anatomy at the University of Göttingen, and later in Giessen and Dortmund. He was president of the Bavarian Academy of Sciences and a member of many other scientific societies. Under his leadership, anatomical museums, collections of specimens and herbariums were created at the universities where he worked. Hermann made significant contributions to the study of the vascular system. He discovered a number of previously unknown vessels and for the first time described in detail the venous system of the limbs. Streets in Berlin, Bochum and Jena are named after Hermann.
