Hypocusis

Hypacusia is an insensitivity to speech caused by a disorder of the central or peripheral part of the auditory system. Speech may be difficult to understand in a sleeping, lethargic, or hypomanic person who experiences sound depression due to decreased sensitivity to high or mid frequencies. In cases of speech deafness, deaf children rely less on speech perception than normal children. Hearing pathology affects speech processes - depending on the location and nature of the disorder, one or another aspect of speech suffers - intelligibility of perception, rhythm or tempo of articulatory movements. In addition, hearing impairment can lead to voice disturbance and its changes - hypohypertonicity, hypokinesis, hypertonicity of the larynx and vocal cords with dysphonia, respiratory noise. The severity of this disorder depends on a number of factors: age, degree of hearing loss, the possibility of developing compensation of functions, experience of living with insufficient speech intelligibility of others, the state of one’s own hearing, etc.
