Hypotension Postural

Postural hypotension (abbreviated as H. posturalis) is a condition in which blood pressure (BP) decreases with changes in body position. H. posturalis can be associated with various diseases, such as cardiovascular disorders, cerebrovascular disorders, kidney diseases, etc.

With H. posturalis, blood pressure decreases when moving from a horizontal to a vertical position or vice versa. This can be caused by various factors, such as a decrease in cardiac output, a decrease in blood volume in the bloodstream, a decrease in vascular tone, etc. In this case, a person may experience dizziness, weakness, headache, nausea and other unpleasant symptoms.

To diagnose H. posturalis, it is necessary to measure blood pressure in various positions of the body, as well as conduct additional studies, such as electrocardiography, echocardiography, ultrasound examination of blood vessels, etc. Treatment of H. posturalis depends on the cause of its occurrence and may include lifestyle changes , taking medications, physical therapy and other treatments.

For many centuries, the condition of high blood pressure was considered to be a reflection of something clearly pathological. Today we know that arterial hypertension is a complication of another disease or a symptom of a number of diseases, and high blood pressure is just a kind of indicator of pathology. Today, high blood pressure is considered not as an independent disease, but as a symptom of diseases of the internal organs. As a result, throughout Europe, the value of the lower pressure is taken as the main, determining one.
