Goiter Parenchymatous

*Parenchymatous goiter is a serious disease of the thyroid gland, which manifests itself in the form of nodules measuring 1 cm or more. The nodules can be soft or hard and vary in density, making them look like cysts. They contain calcium salts, iodine and other substances. The diagnosis is made on the basis of ultrasound of the thyroid gland. The main causes of parenchyma are thyrotoxicosis (excess of thyroid hormones) and hypothyroidism (hormone deficiency). In this regard, it is usually recommended to treat the cause of this disease. Treatment may include drugs that block or stimulate the thyroid gland (antithyroid drugs, anabolic steroids), as well as dietary changes.
