**_Gotz operation_** is a surgical intervention for the treatment of glaucoma, performed to reduce intraocular pressure by increasing the outflow of intraocular fluid through the ciliary body. The operation is performed through an incision along the inner edge of the palpebral fissure or through an incision at the location of one of the lacrimal openings.
The first author was the German doctor F.S. Hots (in 1951), and the concepts of “hotsiorenuresis”, “Hots’s grave”, etc. were also introduced. The operation is recognized as highly effective and is widely used in ophthalmology practice.
