Comb Head Ribs

The crest of the rib head (cristacapitis costae, pna; cristacapitulibna, jna) is a pronounced formation on the surface of the cervical vertebrae, which develops from the upper part of the body of the seventh cervical vertebra (T6). It consists of two main components:

1. The crest is a strong bony-connective structure that is firmly attached to the bony structure of the head of the seventh cervical and fifth thoracic vertebrae T6 and T5, respectively. 2. Nerve - located in the space between these two vertebrae and responsible for the innervation of the muscles that raise and turn the head. The ridges of the rib heads are also related to the development of the neck as a whole. They control the movement of the head and provide stabilization through a strengthened connection to the muscles of the neck and chest. Thanks to this formation, the human neck acquires a characteristic shape, and the face and upper limbs turn freely and confidently in different directions.
