Hartmanellid

**Hartmanellid - shrimp family**

Hartmanella smooth (lat. Hartmanella glabra) is a species of crustacean from the carp family (Carychida, order Mysida). Their body is cylindrical, pink, 20-30 mm long. Near the oral hooks, the dorsal plates are slightly thickened and sclerotized. The paired abdominal plates are connected in the middle by a transverse dam, ending in a cone, from which a second dam, similar to a spyglass, extends downwards. The back of the abdomen is covered with plates that act as a balancer when this animal swims. The length of this species is about 50 millimeters, the color is green. Found in water bodies of Western Europe. They live in colonies of six to eight individuals. They feed on aquatic vegetation. Lives in rivers and streams. Hartmanellas have an important role in monitoring the cleanliness of water bodies, as they are sensitive to water pollution. Also, Hartmanella can be used in aquariums or terrariums.
