Chemotrode

Today we will talk about an important element that is used in an electron microscope - a chemomtride, or chemotrode. This device is an integral part of the device that allows you to display an image of the sample surface on a microscopic scale. The main function of a chemotrode is to create an electrical arc between the cathode and the anode, which creates the necessary pressure necessary to evaporate the liquid contained in the sample.

During the evolution of the electron microscope, chemotrodes have undergone some changes. Originally, they were made from dielectric materials such as glass or quartz tubes. However, over time, gaseous media began to be used instead of liquid. This made it possible to create more advanced samples and ensure greater image accuracy. Also, nowadays, many chemotrodus are equipped with special elements, such as electromagnet coils or piezoelectric transducers, which allow you to adjust the parameters of the electric arc to obtain a clearer image. Chemometry can be used to study various materials, ranging from biological objects to various nanoparticles. An important step when using a chemotron is sample preparation, which involves chemical etching and surface cleaning
