Herpes, Shingles

Herpes and herpes zoster are two viral diseases that are characterized by rashes on the skin and mucous membranes in the form of grouped blisters. The source of infection is a sick person or a virus carrier, and the virus is transmitted by contact.

Both diseases can develop with hypothermia, decreased body resistance, hypovitaminosis and against the background of other infectious diseases such as influenza, pneumonia, malaria, etc. Herpes simplex, also known as fever, can occur on the lips, wings of the nose, oral mucosa, eyes, genitals and other places. The rash of blisters is usually preceded by itching or burning of the skin, and sometimes by chills, slight general malaise and gastrointestinal upset.

Herpes zoster is caused by the chickenpox virus and affects not only the skin, but also the nerves, which leads to pain along the affected nerve and headaches. After a few days, rashes appear in the form of grouped blisters on an inflamed, swollen base along the affected nerve. Nearby lymph nodes enlarge, body temperature rises, and the general condition of the patient is disrupted.

Treatment of herpes is carried out by a doctor and depends on the severity of the disease. For mild herpes simplex and localized rashes on the lips and wings of the nose, antiviral ointments can be used. When rashes are localized on the genitals, eyes, in the oral cavity, when the patient’s general condition is upset and in the case of a recurrent course, as well as herpes zoster, treatment must be carried out under the constant supervision of a doctor.

In order to prevent diseases, it is recommended to harden the body, especially for children, and wear clothes that are appropriate for the season, preventing overheating indoors and in hot weather, and hypothermia in damp, cold weather. Children should not be allowed to come into contact with people with herpes zoster to prevent chickenpox.

In conclusion, herpes and shingles are serious diseases that can lead to negative consequences, especially if not treated correctly or not treated. Therefore, at the first symptoms of the disease, it is necessary to consult a doctor for diagnosis and prescribing effective treatment. In addition, it is important to follow preventive measures, such as hardening the body, rational clothing and avoiding contact with sick people in order to prevent the development of the disease.
