Who is Hilgerreiner?

Hilgenreiner is the author of the Hilgenrean scheme, which is one of the methods of surgical treatment of fractures of the ribs and sternum. The founder of this technique was the famous Bulgarian surgeon Ilarion Kontuzov. However, to this day the Hilgenreinson scheme is actively used and is widely known among doctors all over the world.

Biography of Hilgreiner This specialist was born in the Czech Republic in the city of Prague on October 27, 1791. He graduated from the Adolf Gymnasium and the College of the Holy Cross in Olomouc, and then continued his studies at the university in Breslau, where he became a student of the famous surgeon Joseph Radetzky. After completing his studies, he worked for 4 years as a practicing doctor at the St. James Hospital in Brno. In 1821 he moved to Lvov, where he had been practicing medicine for 25 years. In addition, this time was the period of his scientific activity, as a result of which he wrote several scientific papers and received a doctorate.

In 1846, Hilgenerey moved to Budapest for permanent residence, but at the same time continued to engage in scientific activities. Here he developed and patented an original method for diagnosing the chest organs. This method made it possible to effectively determine the presence of various diseases of the respiratory system. It is worth noting that after this he wrote several more books devoted to the study of lung pathology and other medical issues. Unfortunately, however, the specialist's work in Budapest was interrupted by military actions of Austria-Hungary and Franco-Prussia. In this regard, at the age of 56, Hilgenreiner decided to move to Switzerland to the city of Zurich. On
