Stewart's disease

Stewart disease or Peterson-Becker disease is a congenital peripheral nerve disorder that occurs due to an inherited mutation that affects the function of a gene related to protein production. This protein is critical for the proper development of nerve cells. Impaired production can lead to a variety of neurological defects, including Bastard-Madsons syndrome, Stewart's disease, or neurological manifestations without a known genetic disorder.

Stewart's disease affects approximately 1 in 30,000 people
