Indications for use - X-ray of blood vessels and heart, excretory urography, retrograde pyelography, cystography, hysterosalpingography.

Contraindications - Hypersensitivity (including to other iodine-containing drugs), shock, collapse, decompensated circulatory failure, severe arterial hypertension, hypercoagulation, acute phlebitis, severe hyperthyroidism, severe dysfunction of the liver and kidneys. Use with extreme caution during pregnancy, decompensated diabetes mellitus, myocardial infarction, decompensated circulatory failure, coronary insufficiency.

Side effects - Tachycardia, cardiac rhythm and conduction disturbances, nausea, vomiting, dizziness, allergic reactions (urticaria, Quincke's edema, bronchospasm, anaphylactic shock); locally - phlebitis, thrombosis.

Interaction - Iodine-containing radiocontrast agents, excreted through the kidneys, reduce the ability of thyroid tissue to accumulate radioisotopes during diagnostic studies of the thyroid gland. This decrease can last up to 2 weeks (in some cases even longer). Intravascular administration of contrast media in patients with diabetic nephropathy may contribute to deterioration of renal function. In patients with diabetes mellitus taking biguanides, this may lead to lactic acidosis. Therefore, such patients are recommended to stop taking biguanides 48 hours before the examination. After the examination, taking pills should be started only after renal function has been restored to its original level. Hypersensitivity reactions are more severe in patients receiving beta blockers. The incidence of delayed adverse effects (eg, fever, urticaria, flu-like symptoms, joint pain, itching) with contrast media is higher in patients receiving interleukin.

Overdose - In case of accidental overdose or severely reduced renal function, the drug can be removed from the body by extracorporeal dialysis.

Special instructions - Before use, individual sensitivity to iodine is examined, for which the day before, no more than 1 ml of the drug is administered very slowly intravenously. If allergic reactions develop, use is contraindicated. If you are prone to allergic reactions, antihistamines are prescribed several days in advance.
