Cholangitis Septic

Cholangitis sepsis: what is this disease and how to treat it

**Cholangitis** is inflammation of the bile ducts. Normally, bile from the liver flows through the bile ducts into the intestines, and then through a special duct into the duodenum and from there to the stomach. In various diseases, for example, cholecystitis, cholegolithiasis (stones in the ducts), bile can enter the abdominal cavity and become infected with bacteria.

*Cholangitis* is one of the most dangerous complications of these diseases, leading to the risk of bacteremia - blood poisoning, which quickly leads to complications and death.
