The mechanism of action is to block the ganglia of the autonomic nervous system, which leads to a decrease in blood pressure, a decrease in heart rate, and dilation of peripheral vessels.

Indications for use are hypertension, hypertensive crises, cerebrovascular accidents.

Hygronium is administered intramuscularly or intravenously. The course of treatment is from 7 to 10 days.

Side effects: dizziness, weakness, dry mouth, accommodation disturbances.

Contraindications: severe bradycardia, AV block, collapse.

Hygronium is an outdated drug and is now rarely used due to the high risk of side effects.
