Hysteroptosis

Hysteroptosis is uterine prolapse, in which the uterus drops below its normal position. This condition is also called metroptosis.

The causes of hysteroptosis can be:

  1. Weakening of the ligamentous apparatus of the uterus due to childbirth, abortion, and inflammatory diseases.

  2. Increased intra-abdominal pressure with chronic constipation and heavy physical work.

  3. Congenital weakness of the pelvic floor tissues.

  4. Age-related changes after menopause.

Symptoms of hysteroptosis:

  1. Nagging pain in the lower abdomen, groin, lower back.

  2. Frequent and painful urination.

  3. Difficulty defecating.

  4. Pain during sexual intercourse.

Diagnosis is based on data from a gynecological examination and ultrasound of the pelvic organs.

Treatment includes wearing a pessary recommended by a doctor, physiotherapy, exercise therapy, and, if necessary, surgery.

Prevention of hysteroptosis consists of maintaining good hygiene, treating chronic diseases of the pelvic organs, and regular exercise to strengthen the pelvic floor muscles.

Hysteroptosis is a prolapse of the uterus. In most cases, the pathology does not cause symptoms, so it rarely becomes a reason to see a doctor. Prolapse is most often diagnosed during a preventive medical examination or during a gynecological examination. However, the presence of pathology can manifest itself in a number of ailments that directly depend on the degree of prolapse.

Hysteroptosis and its varieties can be diagnosed:

- in patients over 50 years of age due to weakening of the vestibular ligaments; - in the postpartum period, with an irregular shape of the uterus, which makes it difficult to empty it after childbirth; - after sudden weight loss or sudden increase in body weight; - when diagnosing a tumor of the pelvic organs or peritoneum; - against the background of hormonal imbalances.

There are several types of gynecological pathology - retroposition of the ovaries, retroversion and retroposition of the uterus. Hysteroptotia can also vary depending on which part of the organ the displacement occurs. So, the following is observed: - anterior: when this occurs due to the structural features of the organs - a weak state of the ligamentous apparatus; - central: appears against the background of divergence of the symphysis pubis; - posterior: a type of erosion when the internal opening of the uterine pharynx is shifted towards the lumbar vertebrae.

When diagnosing hysteroptosis, the causes of the pathology must be clarified. After this, the patient is prescribed treatment. All procedures are aimed at strengthening the muscular corset of the vagina and abdominal muscles. The most effective are Kegel exercises, gymnastics for pregnant women, and yoga. Exercises that involve heavy lifting should also be avoided while breastfeeding, as the condition may worsen.
