Hysterotomy

Hysterotomy is a surgical procedure performed to cut open the wall of the uterus. It may be needed for various conditions, such as:

  1. Abnormal location of the placenta. In some cases, the placenta may be located outside the uterus, which can lead to complications during pregnancy. A hysterotomy is performed to remove the placenta and restore the normal position of the uterus.

  2. Myoma. Fibroids are benign tumors that can grow inside the uterus. A hysterotomy may be used to remove fibroids to reduce the size of the uterus and relieve symptoms associated with fibroids.

  3. Scar on the uterus. After previous operations or childbirth, a scar may remain on the uterus. A hysterotomy can help reduce scarring and improve uterine function.

  4. Preeclampsia. Preeclampsia is a condition that causes high blood pressure and protein in the urine. A hysterotomy may be performed to remove fluid from the uterus to relieve pressure and relieve symptoms.

  5. Uterine cancer. Hysterotomy may be used to remove uterine cancer.

Hysterotomy is a major operation that is performed under general anesthesia. Before surgery, the patient must undergo a thorough examination to ensure that the operation will be safe and effective. After the operation, the patient must remain in the hospital under the supervision of doctors for several days.
