Igloo (Snow Hut)

When it's winter and the snow is sticky, building an igloo can be a fun activity for the whole family. An igloo is a traditional Eskimo house that is built from blocks of snow. But not only Eskimos can build an igloo, anyone can do it.

To build an igloo you need snow that will stick and easily form into blocks. It is best to use snow that has just fallen, since it has not yet had time to turn into a dense and hard layer. First you need to level the place where the future needle will stand so that it is not crooked and does not fall. Then you need to start forming snow blocks. To do this, you can use special molds or simply cut out the blocks with a knife or shovel. The blocks should be approximately the same size.

Next you need to start building the walls of the igloo. The snow blocks are stacked in circles, starting at the bottom and ending at the top. For walls to be strong, each block must be slightly rotated relative to the previous one, like bricks in a wall. The walls should be slightly sloping inward so that the roof can be laid later. When the walls reach the desired height, you can start making the roof. The roof must be pitched so that snow can slide off it.

Once the igloo is built, you can decorate it. Any child with an artistic imagination can draw something on their igloo - some abstract design, a sign, or a reinvented family crest. It would be interesting to build a small igloo for a plastic doll.

Igloos are not only a fun activity, but also an opportunity to feel part of the culture and traditions of other peoples. You don't need a lot of experience or special skills to build an igloo. With just enough desire and patience, you can build your own snow hut.
