Infection Periodontal

A periodontal infection is an infectious process that affects the tissue around the tooth, called the periodontium. The periodontium consists of bone tissue, ligaments and blood vessels. The infection can be caused by bacteria, viruses or fungi.

Symptoms of a periodontal infection may include pain, swelling, bleeding gums, bad breath and tooth loss. If the infection is not treated promptly, it can lead to serious complications such as abscess, cellulitis and osteomyelitis.

Treatment for periodontal infection involves removing the infected tissue and using antibiotics. Local antiseptics and anti-inflammatory agents can also be used. In some cases, surgery may be required to remove the affected tissue.

To prevent periodontal infection, it is necessary to monitor oral hygiene, regularly visit the dentist for examination and professional teeth cleaning, and also properly care for your teeth and gums.
