Intal Plus: application, indications, contraindications and features

Intal Plus is a combined bronchodilator that consists of cromoglycic acid and salbutamol. The drug is produced by several companies, including Rhone-Poulenc Rohrer (USA) and Faisons (UK). The dosage form is a dosed aerosol.

Intal Plus is used for the treatment of bronchial asthma, especially in cases where a combination of mast cell membrane stabilizers and beta2-agonists is required. The drug helps expand the bronchi and reduce inflammation in the lungs, which improves breathing and reduces the frequency of asthma attacks.

However, the use of Intal Plus also has a number of contraindications, including hypersensitivity to the components of the drug. Side effects may also occur, such as sore throat, cough, bronchospasm, headache, transient muscle cramps, allergic reactions in the form of angioedema, urticaria, hypotension, collapse. If such effects occur, Intal Plus should be stopped immediately.

Also, you should not combine Intal Plus with non-selective beta-blockers. In case of an overdose, symptoms may appear, such as tremor of the hands, tachycardia, headache, dizziness, nausea, and vomiting. Treatment in this case should be carried out with cardioselective beta blockers, but with caution in case of bronchial asthma.

Features of the use of Intal Plus include caution when prescribing the drug to pregnant and lactating women, as well as monitoring the level of potassium in the blood serum in case of severe bronchial asthma. When stopping asthma attacks, drugs with a rapid bronchodilator effect can additionally be used. Caution is recommended when prescribing to patients with thyrotoxicosis.

Intal Plus is an effective drug for the treatment of bronchial asthma, but its use should only be under the supervision of a doctor and in accordance with the instructions. If any side effects occur, you should immediately stop taking the drug and seek medical attention.
