Intercordin

Intercordin: a drug for the treatment of angina and post-infarction period

Intercordin is an antianginal drug produced by the Polish pharmaceutical company Polfa. Its active ingredient is carbocromene, also known under the international name "Carbocromene". The drug is available in the form of tablets.

Indications for the use of Intercordin include angina pectoris (in the absence of a pronounced stenotic process, protracted and prolonged attacks) and the post-infarction period. Carbocromene helps reduce the frequency and intensity of anginal attacks and improve exercise tolerance in patients with angina.

However, like any other medication, Intercordin has a number of contraindications and side effects. The drug is not recommended for gastric and duodenal ulcers, liver and/or kidney diseases with impaired function, exacerbation of chronic gastritis and widespread stenosing atherosclerosis.

Possible side effects of Intercordin may include bradycardia, low blood pressure, weakness, fatigue, headache, dizziness, nausea, vomiting, dry mouth, dyspepsia and itchy skin. You should also pay attention to the possibility of hypercoagulation when using the drug, which requires monitoring of blood clotting.

Intercordin may interact with other antianginal drugs, cardiac glycosides, anxiolytics, antiarrhythmics and diuretics, so consult your doctor before use.

Although there is no evidence of overdose with Intercordin, if symptoms of overdose occur, seek medical attention.

In conclusion, it can be noted that Intercordin is an effective drug for the treatment of angina pectoris and the post-infarction period, however, its use should only be carried out under the supervision of a physician and taking into account the individual characteristics of the patient.
