Izikom

Isikom: antiparkinsonian drug

Izycom, also known internationally as Levodopa+Carbidopa, is an antiparkinsonian dopaminergic drug manufactured by Izys Pharma GmbH in Germany. It is used to treat Parkinson's disease and symptomatic parkinsonism.

Izicom is presented in the form of tablets containing the active substance - a combination of levodopa and carbidopa. Levodopa is a precursor to dopamine, a neurotransmitter that is deficient in patients with Parkinson's disease. Carbidopa, in turn, prevents the breakdown of levodopa in the peripheral blood and allows it to reach the brain more efficiently.

Izicom has contraindications and may cause side effects. It is not recommended for severe atherosclerosis, hypertension, liver, kidney, blood diseases, glaucoma, melanoma, bronchial asthma, mental illness, as well as for uncompensated pathology of the cardiovascular, respiratory and endocrine systems.

Possible side effects of Izicom include choreoathetoid hyperkinesis, arrhythmias, psychotic and paranoid reactions, dyspepsia, dizziness, visual impairment, hemolytic anemia, agranulocytosis, leukopenia, alopecia, allergic reactions and ulceration of the gastrointestinal tract.

You need to be careful when Izicom interacts with other drugs. It may weaken the effect of vitamin B6 and enhance the effect of monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs).

In case of an overdose of Isikom, various symptoms may occur, such as muscle twitching, convulsive closing of the eyelid, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, heart rhythm disturbances, loss of consciousness, convulsions, agitation, hallucinations and coma. If you suspect an overdose, you should urgently call an ambulance.

There are special instructions when using Izicom. It is limited in use during pregnancy, in children under 12 years of age, and in patients with a history of myocardial infarction. Nursing mothers are advised to stop breastfeeding during treatment. It is also important to periodically monitor blood condition, liver and kidney function while using Izicom.
