A flat joint, or amphiarthrosis, is a type of pathological change in the joint, in which its surface becomes less convex and begins to resemble a proskeilistic map. This occurs due to destruction of the articular surface or insufficient lubrication of the joint. Symptoms of planus include discomfort, pain, and decreased mobility. Treatment may include injections of chondroprotectors or surgery.
