How to determine what type of face you have

Knowing your face shape is very important. Why?! Well, at least because the shape of the face is the starting point for a competent (correct) choice of hairstyle, successful makeup, choice of eyebrow shape, clothing items and accessories.

2. Position yourself near the mirror so that your face is completely reflected in it.
3. Relax your face and do not express any emotions (since the contours of your face will change greatly), sit calmly.
4. Use pencil or lipstick to trace the outline of your face on the mirror.
5. Using a ruler, take the following measurements:

1 – measure the width of your forehead

2 – measure the width of your face (cheekbones)

3 – measure the width of the chin (jaw)

4 – measure your face length

This data gives us the following results:

1. if face width = face height, then it is either circle, or square;
2. if the height of the face > width is more than 1.5 times, then this is rectangle or extended type;
3. if the width of the forehead = the width of the face = the width of the chin, then this square, rectangle or extended type;
4. if the height of the face > width is less than 1.5 times, then this is oval or heart (triangle);
5. if the width of the forehead and the width of the face > the width of the chin, then this is triangle (heart);
6. if the width of the face > the width of the forehead and the width of the chin, then this is oval, circle, rhombus;
7. if the width of the chin is > the width of the forehead and the width of the face, then this is a rare form - pear.

In addition, there is another measuring method for determining facial type.

It requires only two measurements: the height of the face and the distance from the base of the nose to the tip of the chin (Value B). The height of the face will need to be divided by 3 (value A).

What conclusions can we draw based on these values?!

If A = B, then you have oval or heart (if the chin is sharp).

If A B, then you have square or rectangle.

Now that we have calculated the probable shape (type) of the face, we can take a closer look at its description. All characteristics do not have to match, but your type will be the one with the most matches.

Oval

1. the height of the face > its width (≈ 1.5 times);
2. round chin;
3. the forehead is not wide and not very high;
4. cheekbones stand out.

Circle

1. face height = face width;
2. the chin is round and not very pronounced;
3. low forehead.

Square

1. face height = face width;
2. the forehead is wide and low;
3. the cheekbones are also wide;
4. square chin;
5. the jaw line is pronounced.

Rectangle

1. face height > width;
2. the forehead is wide and high;
3. the cheekbones are also wide;
4. square chin;
5. pronounced jaw line;
6. The hairline is straight.

Triangle

1. wide forehead;
2. the cheekbones are also wide;
3. the chin is sharp.

Rhombus

1. the forehead is narrow but high;
2. wide cheekbones;
3. sharp chin;
4. the hairline is uneven;

3. Compare the two resulting numbers.

If it turned out approximately equal numbers, then you have an oval or heart-shaped face.

The second number turned out to be greater than the first - long face or square shape.

The second number turned out to be less than the first - round face or diamond shape.

This method gives a rough estimate of the type of face. There is a more accurate method for determining the shape.

Second method

Take four measurements of your face:

1. Forehead width (1);
2. Distance from temple to temple (2);
3. Width of face at mouth level (length of jaw (3);
4. Distance from the tip of the chin to the top of the forehead (length/height of the face (4).

Record the results and compare the results obtained.

1. Length 2 is approximately equal to 60-90% of length 4 – oval, trapezoid, heart-shaped face shape;
2. Length 2 is conditionally equal to distance 4 – face shape is circle or square;
3. Length 2 is approximately equal to 60% or less of length 4 – rectangular or elongated face shape;
4. Lengths 1, 2 and 3 are approximately equal - the face shape is rectangle, square or elongated;
5. Length 1 is greater than length 2 and length 3 – heart-shaped or V-triangle face shape;
6. Length 2 is greater than length 1 and length 3 – the face shape is circle, oval or diamond;
7. Length 3 is longer than length 1 and length 2 – trapezoid face shape.

Round face shape

Requires caution when choosing a hairstyle. Short bangs on a round face make it even wider; bangs that cover the forehead are suitable for this shape.

Oval face shape
